Geneva Council: Torture and sexual extortion are systematic in UAE-run prisons in Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 8 (YPA) – The Geneva Council for Rights and Justice has confirmed that torture and sexual blackmail have become a systematic behavior in prisons which are run by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Yemen.

“The UAE hold responsible for any repercussions on the health of the Strikers in a prison in the Yemeni province of Aden,” the council said in a statement.

“Torture and sexual blackmail have become a systematic behavior against detainees in prisons run by the UAE,” he said.

The Council noted that the UAE has to stop the horrific violations against detainees in prisons in the Yemeni areas.
