Update: Coalition builds new ramparts, fortifications in Hodeidah

HOEDIDAH, Jan. 7 (YPA) – The US-backed Saudi-led coalition militants on Monday continued their violations of the ceasefire in Hodeidah province, western Yemen, a security official told Yemen Press Agency.

According to the official, the coalition’s military bulldozers built new ramparts and fortifications in the eastern part of Shabab City of 90th street in the western coast.

On Sunday, the coalition-backed militants fired more than 200 artillery shells and 12 katyusha rockets on Zafran village in Kilo 16 area.

The escalation coincided with the arrival of the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith to Sanaa to meet with the leadership of Ansarullah and the Supreme Political Council before moving to Hodeidah to see how the parties to the conflict are complying to the ceasefire agreement.
