SANAA, Jan. 4 (YPA) – The United Nations said its special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffith, will begin a tour of the region on Saturday, including the Yemeni capital Sanaa and Saudi Arabia.
Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said in a conference at the UN headquarters in New York that Martin Griffith will visit Sanaa and Saudi Arabia starting next Saturday on his latest round of consultations with the parties, without elaborating on the duration of the tour and which to start.
Haq added that Griffith is expected to meet in Sana’a with Ansar Allah’s leadership, as well as with General Patrick Cammaert, head of the Houthi redeployment coordination committee, humanitarian coordinator Liz Grande, and in Riyadh he is expected to meet with exiled Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and other officials.
General Cammaert held meetings with both parties, particularly as the cessation of hostilities in Hodeidah remained consistent.
Cammaert heads the Coordination Committee for Redeployment, which includes three military members from the government side and three Houthi, whose mission is to monitor the cease-fire and withdraw Houthi and coalition forces from the city and the port of Hodeidah.
