Differences emerge between warring parties over redeployment in Hodeidah

HODEIDAH, Dec. 29 (YPA) – The Coordination Committee of the two Yemeni warring sides discussed the second section of the agreement, which is the implementation mechanism of redeployment and areas where the forces of both sides will withdraw, a familiar source with the issue told Yemen Press Agency on Friday.

According to the source, Both sides disagreed on the areas where their troops would be withdrawn and the distance needed for redeployment, as the National Salvation government team in the Coordination Committee put the withdrawal of the other party’s forces at 60 kilos to the area of Tuhita to ensure that the clashes do not return and remove any threat to the city and its port.

he Riyadh-backed delegation rejected this and said it 3 to 4 kilos is enough to re-deploy and remove any fears of the return of the attack on Hodeidah, it also put a condition that the Army forces “Houthis” withdraw to Saada or Amran, one member of the Committee said.

The exiled Hadi government team asked for an opportunity to go and meet with their leaders and to consult on the area of withdrawal of their forces as well as the area of withdrawal of the forces of Ansarullah, and the opportunity was given to them.

Observers said that exiled Hadi’s team’s request to return to their leadership is a clear evidence that they come with an external agenda imposed by the Saudi-led Coalition and are not empowered to choose what fits its national interest.
