Humanitarian corridors approved to open in Hodeidah
HODEIDAH, Dec. 29 (YPA) – The parties of the conflict in Yemen agreed to begin opening the closed humanitarian corridors from Hodeidah-Sana’a road followed by other roads in stages, as a confidence-building measure.
A humanitarian convoy is expected to move from the port of Hodeidah along the Hodeidah road to Sanaa on Saturday, December 29, according to the UN News website.
This came during the first joint meeting of the Coordination Committee for the redeployment in Hodeidah from 26 to 28 December 2018, the Committee discussed the first phase of the implementation of the Stockholm Convention, which is based on three priority axes: a ceasefire, confidence-building measures to provide humanitarian assistance , And redeployment.
The meeting was held over a three-day period in a constructive and cordial manner, and the Chairman of the Committee commended those Parties that had shown good faith on the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.
The parties are now preparing to provide the Chairman of the Committee with detailed plans for full redeployment, which will be discussed at the next meeting of the Committee scheduled for 1 January 2019 in Hodeidah.
