Rights org calls for compensating victims of police prison bombardment in Sanaa

SANAA, Dec. 20 (YPA) – A Geneva-based human rights organization on Thursday demanded that Saudi-led coalition countries should compensate civilian victims who were killed in an air bombing targeted the military police prison in Sanaa on December 13, 2017.

In a new report on the crime of bombing the military police prison, Sam Human Rights Organization revealed that the coalition aircrafts’ bombing was premeditated and intentional.

The organization’ report is based on testimonies of people who survived the bombing and statements by the Yemeni government in Sanaa and the International Committee of Red Cross, which in total concluded that the coalition was aware that the prison included prisoners, but that did not prevent the coalition from committing the crime, which claimed lives of 30 prisoners.

The report called for compensating the victims or their relatives, as well as compensating the material damage to citizens’ property due to the coalition airstrikes on the prison.

According to the report, the coalition leadership had refused to respond to the organization’s inquiries into the crime.
