SANAA – Former President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Yemen, Ali Nasser Mohammad on Saturday strongly criticized violations being committed on the Yemeni islands of Socotra and Meon by the occupying forces of the United Arab Emirates.

“Yemen’s Islands are not for auction,” Mohammed wrote on his Twitter, addressing the UAE.

“Islands of Socotra and Meon are not for Auction. They are the most precious gems in the World,” he said, demanding the Yemeni people to stand firmly against such violations.

The control over the islands by the UAE occupying forces has sparked a large-scale discontent among the Yemeni people, particularly after the occupying forces have spoiled both islands amid shameful silence from the group of resigned, exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Last week, the UAE made the most blatant move when its occupying forces attempted to impose a self-determination referendum to vote for joining the Island of Socotra to the sovereignty of the UAE.

The UAE forces have been exploiting the poor residents of the Yemeni Islands to recruit them.
