Al-Ahmar causes controversy between GPC, Islah party in Riyadh

SANAA, Dec. 4 (YPA) – A big disagreement has broken out between leaders of the General People Congress (GPC) party and Islah Party in Riyadh over appointing members of the negotiating delegation of the exiled Hadi government to Sweden talks.

A diplomatic source familiar with the matter said that Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, a military leader of the Islah Party, was the one who approved the formation of the negotiating team, mostly from members of the Islah Party and those close to him.

The source noted that many prominent members of the GPC were excluded, which provoked controversy about the quotas in the negotiations.

He added that there are pressures to modify the team formation to reduce the number, but al-Ahmar had already sent groups of his supporters to the Swedish capital Stockholm to run for the negotiating table.
