FM official condemns coalition targeting of port of Hodeidah

SANAA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – An official of Foreign Ministry condemned i the targeting of the aircraft of the Coalition on Monday with two strikes on  the eastern part of Hodeidah port.

The official said in a statement) that the port of Hodeidah is a lifeline for some 24 million Yemenis, where it receives about 80% of humanitarian aid, medicines and commodities.

The official stressed that the countries of coalition led by Saudi Arabia ignore the calls to stop the military escalation in Hodeidah.

The official pointed out that the coalition had already targeted the port of Hodeidah in August 2015 with several raids resulted in the destruction of the container terminal, cranes, bridges and  seriously damaged the operational capacity of the port.

The official called on the international community to condemn the military escalation in the Western Coast and targeting civilians and civilian objects, especially the port of Hodeidah.

The official also called on the Security Council to adopt a resolution calling for an end to hostilities and escalation in Hodeidah, an end to the embargo and restrictions on the entry of goods, tacking measures to halt the economic collapse caused by the aggression and the siege imposed on Yemen as well as the resumption of peace consultations.
