FM welcomes U.N. chief’s statement, calls for binding resolution to stop war

SANAA, Nov. 2 (YPA) – Foreign Minister, Hisham Sharaf, welcomed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the latest developments in Yemen and the necessity of exerting all necessary efforts to enhance the chances of success in the political arena.

Sharaf pointed out that international attention reflects the reality of the humanitarian situation and suffering of Yemeni people because of Saudi-led  coalition aggression since 26 March 2015.

Sharaf pointed out that it is necessary to take into account the lack of appeals in the conflicting parties referred to by UN Secretary, and must clearly require the United Nations and the Security Council obliges the Saudi-led coalition to stop the aggressive military operations and countries that provide this alliance with weapons.

Sharaf also praised the UN Secretary-General’s determination of four steps as urgent measures to be taken in Yemen to stop violence, introduce unrestricted imports, support the economy, including currency, pay salaries and increase international grants to alleviate living and humanitarian suffering.
