Yemeni army launches offensive on coalition-backed militants in western coast

HODEIDAH, Oct. 28 (YPA) – The Yemeni army and popular committees on late Saturday carried out an offensive on the positions of the coalition-backed militants in Yemen’s Hodeidah province, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.

Dozens of the militants were killed and others were injured in the attack which targeted their sites in southwest part of Jabliah district, the official said.

The army forces were able to destroy military mechanisms in addition to burning of store weapons of the militants during the attack.

The attack lasted several hours, and it was preceded by intensive artillery shelling on gatherings of the militants, causing massive casualties.

Several militants were captured in the attack, the official said.

Earlier, the Yemeni army and popular committees managed to control a number of sites of in Tuhitah district on the West coast.
