18 killed as truck collides with bus in Ethiopia

SANAA, Oct. 27 (YPA) – At least 18 people were killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck in northern Ethiopia, Ethiopian radio “Ana” reported on Saturday.

At least 18 people were killed after a minibus collided with a truck in the Awei district of Amhara Province, the radio said, noting that others were injured, ranging from serious to minor injuries.

According to the Ethiopian Ministry of Transport, more than 4,000 people are killed every year in traffic accidents.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road accidents, and 90 percent of those deaths occur in middle and low-income countries.
