Yemen warns Saudi-led coalition against recruiting child soldiers

SANAA, Sept. 27 (YPA) – Chief of the Moral Guidance Department at Yemen’s Armed Forces Brig. Yahya Sari said the Saudi-led coalition has been continuing to recruit child soldiers in return for money, exploiting hunger to drive children into fronts, according to state Saba news agency.

“The leadership of the defense ministry takes responsibility in dealing with those arrested child soldiers and secure their return to their families safely,” Sari said, warning the coalition that recruiting child soldiers contradicts with international humanitarian laws.

On Aug. 19, the defense ministry handed over the International Committee of the Red Cross 31 child soldiers arrested during battles.
