Giving Syria the “S-300” anti-missile rocket systems serve stability : Russain official

SANAA, Sept. 26 (YPA) – Director of the Foreign Ministry Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Vladimir Yermakov said that The Russian decision to provide Syria with the “S-300” anti-missile rocket system will not lead to escalation in Syria, but to stability.

Vladimir Yermakov stressed that the system is defensive and that the United States is “deliberately lying” when it says that supplying Syria with”S-300″ anti-missile rocket system threatens the security of the United States.

“The S-300 systems that Syria will receive will cover the whole Syrian airspace where it is required to do so,” Yermakov said.

He noted that the arguments of those who previously requested not to hand over S-300 to Syria are no longer convincing and any state has the right to provide technical military assistance to its partners.

Yermakov also expressed surprise at the remarks made by White House National Security advisor John Bolton in this regard, calling on the USA to coordinate with Russia, especially in joint efforts to fight terrorism in Syria and the Middle East in general.
