Russia to deliver S-300 air defense system to Syria within 2 weeks

MOSCOW, Sept. 24 (YPA) – Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Schweig, on Monday said that Moscow will deliver S-300 of air defense systems to Syria within two weeks, following the downing of the Russian IL-20 plane last week.

“ Israel is responsible for the downing of the aircraft by mistake via the Syrian air defenses last Monday evening, which claimed lives of 15 Russian soldiers,” said Schweig in a statement to RT news channel.

He added that the Israeli army informed the Russian side through the hotline about its intention to wage air raids on Syria only one minute before the start of the attack.
