3 directors of a Turkish television channel sentenced
SANAA, Sep. 20 (YPA) – A three-year and nine-month prison sentence in Istanbul sentenced three former executives of the closed Hayatin Sisi television station on charges of publishing “terrorist propaganda.”
The agency of France Press said that the court convicted the owners of the channel, Mustafa Kara, Ismail Jokhan and editor-in-chief Jokhan Seten, of publishing propaganda for the banned PKK and the fighters of the ISIS organization.
The Prosecutor’s office demanded that the defendants be held for at least 13 years.
The left-wing television station opposed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was closed under a state of emergency following the attempted coup in Turkey in July 2016.
