Yemeni army launches offensive on Saudi-backed militants in Asir

ASIR, Sept.15 (YPA) – The Yemeni army and popular committees on Saturday launched an offensive on the positions of the Saudi-backed militants in Almasanie area off Majazah district in the Saudi southern border province of Asir, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.

Dozens of the militants were killed and injured in the attack, the official confirmed.

The attack came after the army forces foiled an infiltration attempt of the Saudi militants towards Almasanie area, the official added.

The official indicated that the SU-backed Saudi-led coalition warplanes launched six air strikes to back its militants in their failed attempt to make progress on the ground.
