SANAA, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Prosecutors in Comoros issued an international arrest warrant against Jaafar Ahmed Saeed Hasani, former vice president of the country on charges of plotting against the state.
Jaafar openly opposed the June referendum to extend presidential terms limits and President Azali Assoumani suspended the Constitutional Court’s work.
He left the Indian Ocean country on Monday on a flight heading to Tanzania, according to Reuters.
The arrest warrant, issued by the government, accused Jaafar of “conspiring against the authorities of the state.
The Foreign Ministry issued notes addressing the embassies of Comoros to withdraw the diplomatic passports of Jaafar, Reuters reported.
