Local official warns of biggest disaster in Aden’s history

ADEN, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Director-General of Mansoura district appointed by the exiled Hadi, in the southern port city of Aden on Monday warned of the occurrence of the biggest catastrophe in the city’s history.

Mohammed Omar Saleh al-Barri said that the sewage basins located next to the Aden station and extend to al-Taqanyah area were seized by influential persons, which contains a risk of building over drainage pipes reaching the sea and the protected area.

The construction there means the destruction of the pipes, which will lead to a health disaster as a result of the return of all sewage water discharged from the districts of Mansoura and Sheikh Othman to the public streets and houses of citizens, al-Barri explained.

Directives have been issued to stop the construction and taking over the pipes area, but there are armed militias protect those persons, he added, noting that he will not be responsible for any future environmental disaster in the city.
