Oil derivatives crisis paralyzes Shabwa province

SHABWA, Sep. 5 (YPA) – Shabwa province, southern Yemen, has been witnessing a severe shortage of oil products over a week, especially benzine and diesel, which paralyzed the movement in the province.

Local residents said on Wednesday that all fuel stations closed because of the lack of benzine and diesel in all districts of the province since last week.

The transport movement and traffic between the districts has been paralyzed completely as a result of the oil derivatives crisis that have plagued the province recently, according to local officials.

Most of the southern provinces are witnessing daily popular demonstrations in protest at the weakening national currency against foreign currencies that has caused the rise in prices of foodstuffs and basic commodities.
