Saudi students seek asylum in Canada

SANAA, Sep. 2 (YPA) – The Canadian CBC NEWS” newspaper ” has revealed that at least 20 Saudi students had applied for political asylum to the Canadian authorities.

This step represents a clear defiance of the Saudi authorities’ decision to recall their students from Canada in the wake of the recent crisis that erupted after Ottawa’s criticism of the Kingdom’s human rights record and its demand for the immediate release of human rights activists.

With the August 31 deadline set for Saudi students to leave Canada, at least 20 students have applied for asylum in an attempt to stay in the country, the newspaper said.
