US admits its aircrafts’ participation in bombing Yemen

SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – The US Secretary of War, James Matisse, on Tuesday admitted for the first time the participation of US warplanes in the war on Yemen.

“We periodically review the support given to the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen,” Matisse told the press. “We have pilots in the air who know the seriousness of the missions and when they are given the mandate, they do not fire rockets nor bombs.”

“There are areas where bombing is prohibited when there are hospitals or schools,” he said. Matisse noted that there is a bombing of this kind, saying “We acknowledge any mistake. This mistake, if committed, is tragic.”

He also stressed that “the United States of America will continue to work with the coalition to reduce the impact of this tragedy.”
