SANAA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – Deputy Commander of the Russian military group operating in Syria revealed that over 1,000 Russian military personnel are now working in demining and the elimination of IEDs in Syria
Deputy Commander of the Russian military group in Syria, Lieutenant-General Sergei Kurylenko said that the Russian military personnel are working not only to clear mines, to clear various sites and institutions of projectiles that did not explode, but also to train demining elements in the Syrian army.
Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu announced recently that Russia’s Mine action centre in Syria had cleared more than 17,000 buildings since 2016, removing more than 105,000 explosive devices and shells
They also cleared over 6.5 thousand hectares of land of mines and explosive devices planted and abandoned by terrorists.
The centre trained over 1245 Syrian demining team who cleared about 2,000 hectares of mines and explosive materials and defused 3850 explosive devices.
