SANAA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa reiterated on Thursday its commitment to the security and safety of international navigation in the Red Sea from the Yemeni side, while warning the Saudi regime against the consequences of attempts to militarize the sea.
This stance came in a ministry statement issued in the wake of the shelling of a yacht near Zuqar Island, which resulted in casualties of Indian nationality.
The incident followed a previous attack targeting fishermen on the Kadha coast in Thubab district. The ministry noted that Sanaa forces promptly rushed to rescue those who could be saved among the victims of the latest attack.
The statement described these recurring offshore attacks as “condemned acts and evidence of bankruptcy,” aimed at pushing the situation toward mutual escalation and soliciting international intervention to bail Saudi Arabia out of its field predicament.
The ministry concluded its statement by issuing a warning to the international community “not to fall into the Saudi trap,” stressing that the conflict is strictly confined to Saudi Arabia and that international navigation from Yemen’s side is completely secure unless the region is dragged into escalation.
