Tribal gunmen seize gas, fuel tankers bound for Shabwa

SHABWA, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Tribal gunmen affiliated with the Islah Party seized on Wednesday gas and fuel tankers destined for the oil-rich province of Shabwa on Wednesday along the road linking the Safer facility to Al-Abr District.

Tribal sources familiar with the matter said the gunmen detained dozens of tankers carrying gas and fuel intended for Shabwa’s electricity supply in the Al-Ruwaik area, without specifying the reasons.

The armed blockade caused disruptions within hours, triggering a severe domestic gas shortage in the city of Ataq and other districts of Shabwa.
