LONDON, Oct. 17 (YPA) – The Financial Times revealed an investigation showing that the Israeli company DiscoverTech turned the digital advertising system into a sophisticated spying tool, exploiting trillions of ad transactions to distribute malware without any interaction from the targets.
According to the report, the attacks targeted officials in prominent international institutions, including NATO and the European Commission, and chip manufacturers, with targeting detected in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
Researchers at Citizen Lab indicated that the company used ads to create detailed profiles before turning them into a covert surveillance tool, while Google announced it had banned the company from its advertising platforms after proving its systematic violation of its policies.
