PM discusses cooperation relations between Yemen, IOM

SANAA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Saturday discussed with Director of Operations and Emergency at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) the cooperation relations between Yemen and the organization in providing shelter and relief for IDPs.

The premier reviewed the humanitarian situation experienced by the Yemeni people for more than three years as a result of the Saudi-led coalition war and its direct role in the displacement of millions of the population internally.

Dr. bin Habtoor said that the humanitarian needs of all Yemenis have increased steadily with the continuation of the war and siege, calling for larger humanitarian interventions whether by the IOM or other organizations.

The two sides discussed the return of Yemeni citizens stranded abroad, as well as aspects related to receiving and deporting illegal immigrants to Yemen from the countries of the Horn of Africa.

They dealt with the joint vital roles of the National Salvation Government and the IOM towards the new wave of displacement from Hodeidah province and how to enhance the level of relief and housing work.

The meeting also touched on the massacres of the coalition against the schoolchildren Dhahyan market in Saada province and at the gate of Al-Thawrah Hospital in Hodeidah city, which resulted in the killing of dozens of children and injuring hundreds of civilians, as well as the coalition military escalation in the western coast, which led to increasing the number of displaced and exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.
