51 dead, 79 injured, 15 unidentified in Saada massacre: Human Rights Minister

SANAA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Minister of Human Rights in Sanaa, Aliya al-Shaabi, on Saturday said the victims of Dhahyan massacre committed by Saudi-led coalition warplanes in Saada province have amounted to 51 martyrs and 79 wounded, in addition to 15 unidentified bodies so far.

Three teachers and the bus driver among the martyrs and another teacher among the wounded, the minister added in a press conference held in Saada.

The minister explained that the bus was carrying schoolchildren on a recreational trip from the Grand Mosque School in Dhahyan district to Riadh Al-Shuhadaa (martyrs cemetery) and Al-Hadi Mosque in Saada.

“The missile fired on the bus was of the same type that hit the Great Hall in Sanaa. It is an American-made missile,” she said.

Al-Shaabi added that the coalition committed this crime in front of the eyes and ears of the world, in a flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions, and made the Yemeni children, elderly and women military targets.

She welcomed the widespread international condemnation of the massacre, demanding the international community and the UN Security Council to form a neutral and independent international commission of inquiry to investigate into this crime.

The minister also called on the international community to stop the war against the Yemeni people, lift the comprehensive siege and bring the crimes perpetrators before international courts.
