Two children drown while swimming in dam in Dhamar

DHAMAR, Oct. 11 (YPA) – Two children drowned on Saturday while swimming in Al-Jabjab Dam in Afq village, Jahran district, in Dhamar province.

The Civil Defense Authority said it received a report of the incident at noon.

The victims were identified as Abdulqader Hilal Mohammed Al-Muntasir, 10, and Muhaib Sadiq Al-Yaari, 11, both residents of the Mafrah neighborhood in the Jahran area.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, and the children’s bodies were recovered and taken to Dhamar General Hospital, the authority added.

The Civil Defense Authority renewed its call for residents, particularly parents, to exercise caution, keep children under supervision, and prevent them from swimming in dams and water barriers.

It warned that such sites pose a serious risk to children’s lives, especially because water depths and currents can be difficult to assess.
