Sanaa Political Council Chief rejects Saudi allegations over Medina, holds Riyadh responsible for holy sites’ safety

SANAA, Oct. 02 (YPA) – The President of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, Mahdi Al-Mashat, rejected on Thursday allegations by the Saudi regime claiming Yemen targeted the Holy City of Medina, describing the statements as baseless fabrications reflecting political bankruptcy and failure.

In a statement to the Sanaa-based Yemen News Agency (Saba), Al-Mashat held Saudi authorities fully responsible for any potential harm to Mecca, pilgrims, or Medina and the Prophet’s Mosque, cautioning against attempts to attribute such acts to the Yemeni people.

Al-Mashat stated that Yemeni forces have engaged in military confrontations with major global and regional powers—namely the United States, the United Kingdom, and “Israel”—in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque, adding that Yemen remains fully prepared to employ all available means to defend Islamic holy sites in Mecca and Medina.

He characterized the repeated allegations as an attempt to mobilize Islamic public opinion, asserting that past historical actions by Saudi forces regarding Islamic monuments and historical sites in Mecca and Medina demonstrate a clear record concerning the region’s heritage.

Furthermore, Al-Mashat criticized recent cultural and entertainment policies within the Kingdom, calling on the wider Islamic world not to be misled by “lies of the criminal Saudi regime.”
