British experts warn against involvement in escalation against Yemen

LONDON, Sept. 30 (YPA) – British civil society organizations, experts and academics have warned of the risks of becoming involved in the escalation against Yemen, stressing that providing support to Saudi Arabia would expose Britain to significant risks.

In a letter to the British Prime Minister, the organizations, experts and academics expressed deep concern over the decision to provide fuel to the Saudi Air Force.

The letter stressed that military support for Saudi Arabia makes Britain complicit in war crimes and will not achieve its objectives, noting that Britain exported weapons to and provided technical support for Saudi Arabia during the war on Yemen between 2015 and 2022.

It also pointed to extensive evidence showing that Saudi airstrikes targeted civilians and infrastructure, arguing that providing support to Saudi Arabia makes Britain complicit in those crimes.

The letter further stated that the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen faces serious allegations of using starvation as a tactic.

Concluding the letter, the British civil society organizations, experts and academics urged the British government not to become involved again in Saudi operations against Yemen.
