Sanaa government reopens coastal road linking Taiz, Hodeida after 11 years

SANAA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – The Sanaa government on Friday announced the reopening of the coastal road and the route linking Taiz and Hodeida governorates after an 11-year closure.

According to the announcement, Transport and Public Works Minister Mohammed Qahim, Hodeida Governor Abdullah Atifi, and Acting Taiz Governor Ahmed Al-Masawa inaugurated the road, reopening the route between the two governorates and facilitating travel for residents and passengers. The route had been closed for nearly 11 years by Saudi-backed forces, according to Sanaa.

Abdullah Atifi, said traffic along the road linking Mocha, Al-Khawkha and Hodeidah was moving smoothly following its reopening, with travel proceeding safely and without disruption.

Meanwhile, Acting Taiz Governor Al-Masawa said the reopening of the Taiz-Hodeidah-Al-Barh route came after an 11-year interruption caused by Saudi-backed forces taking control of the area.

The reopening of the coastal road and the route linking Taiz and Hodeida is expected to facilitate the movement of people and goods, in addition to strengthening ties between the two governorates after years of closure due to military developments.
