Algeria cuts diplomatic ties with UAE, gives ambassador 48 hours to leave

ALGIERS, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Algeria announced on Thursday that it has severed diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stating the decision comes after exhausting all efforts to preserve bilateral ties and in response to what it described as “increasing provocative and hostile actions” by Abu Dhabi.

In an official statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Algeria had demonstrated significant self-restraint and responsibility, adding that it had repeatedly warned the Emirati side against the consequences of behaviors that crossed the boundaries of acceptable conduct between sovereign states.

In this context, the Foreign Ministry summoned the UAE ambassador and formally notified him of the decision, giving him 48 hours to leave the country. This development follows remarks made by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in late July, in which he criticized Abu Dhabi’s regional roles and hinted at the possibility of taking this step.
