Germany approves €800 million arms exports to Israel

BERLIN, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The German government on Wednesday approved nearly €800 million worth of military equipment exports to Israel between January and June 2026, following the partial lifting of arms export restrictions to Tel Aviv in November 2025.

Der Spiegel reported that the value of the new licenses exceeded the total approved for all of 2025. A naval project accounted for 67% of the second-quarter licenses, including the INS Drako submarine produced by ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems.

Germany had suspended arms exports that could be used in Gaza in August 2025.

Left Party MP Lea Reissner criticized the decision, calling it a “double standard” and demanding a complete and immediate halt to arms exports to Israel.

It is noted that the value of German military exports to Israel amounted to €327 million in 2023, €161.1 million in 2024, and €260 million in 2025.
