Israeli occupation forces renew airstrikes, artillery shelling on southern Lebanese towns

BEIRUT, Sept. 02 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a series of heavy airstrikes and artillery shelling on several towns in southern Lebanon late Tuesday and early Wednesday, continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement.

Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli occupation warplanes carried out multiple strikes after midnight on the Al-Ruwais neighborhood in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, destroying civilian homes. An Israeli drone also fired a guided missile at the home of Haidar Houmani, an official with the Risala Scout Association, in the same neighborhood, with no casualties reported.

In Arabsalim, an airstrike destroyed an endowment building at the town’s cemetery, damaging graves and shattering windows in dozens of nearby homes.

Intense overnight artillery shelling targeted the Ali al-Taher heights, the surroundings of Al-Dabsha Hill, Dawat Kfar Remman, and the outskirts of Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah. Israeli forces utilized internationally banned phosphorus shells, followed on Wednesday morning by heavy machine-gun fire along the edges of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah.
