HADRAMOUT, Aug. 25 (YPA) – Saudi-backed authorities abducted a local official in Mukalla, the administrative center of Hadramout province, and threw him into the central prison.
According to local human rights sources, armed personnel affiliated with Saudi -backed forces detained Salah bin Hamel, a member of the Mukalla Local Council, on Sunday and took him to the central prison without any legal justification.
Sources said Bin Hamel was detained over Facebook posts in which he criticized Hadramout’s judicial system, condemned the exploitation of the province’s natural resources, and raised concerns about the lack of public development projects.
According to human rights sources, Saudi-backed authorities have refused to release Bin Hamel, holding him in the central prison without any court conviction or formal judicial ruling.
