Abida tribes blockade “Safer” facility, halting oil, gas trucks to pressure Marib authorities

MARIB, Aug. 13 (YPA) – Tribesmen from the Abida tribe in Marib Governorate have blocked the Safer–Al-Abr road and established armed checkpoints to prevent oil and gas trucks from departing the Safer facility.

The escalation comes in protest against the Islah Party-affiliated authorities’ failure to respond to demands regarding the provision of basic services funded by the governorate’s resource revenues.

This move follows the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the tribes to local authorities and the Safer Company. During this period, the tribes banned truck movements and called on workers to suspend operations, citing worsening living conditions and severe service deterioration, notably persistent outages of gas-powered electricity and telecommunications.
