OTTAWA, July 30 (YPA) – Canada on Wednesday called for an end to Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, condemning the continued violence carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
In a post on X, Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it condemns the ongoing violence in the West Bank and stressed that Israeli settlement expansion must stop.
The ministry stated that the settlements are illegal under international law and undermine the prospects for peace, security, and stability.
Canada’s statement comes as United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres reiterated that all Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank constitute a flagrant violation of international law and have no legal validity.
UN resolutions also affirm that Israeli settlements established in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 are illegal under international law and call for a halt to all settlement activities.
