Cooking gas shortage resurfaces in Mukalla amid growing public anger

HADRAMOUT, July 27 (YPA) – A severe cooking gas shortage resurfaced on Sunday across Mukalla, the capital of Yemen’s oil-rich Hadramout province, after a brief improvement in supplies.

Long queues formed at filling stations as gas became unavailable at most outlets, prompting public frustration. Residents accused local authorities of fueling recurring supply crises.

The shortage comes amid escalating protests calling for an end to Saudi influence and condemning what protesters describe as deteriorating public services, including electricity and cooking gas.

Previous media reports alleged that the Safer Gas Company was involved in creating artificial supply shortages, claims that have not been independently verified.

The renewed crisis underscores ongoing service disruptions in Hadramout, where residents also face frequent power outages and rising fuel prices.
