Non-compliant oil tanker explodes after hitting naval mine in Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, July 26 (YPA) – An oil tanker exploded on Sunday after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.

Citing an informed source, Mehr reported that the non-compliant tanker had strayed from the navigation route designated by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

The source noted that Tehran had repeatedly warned that any vessel departing from the Iran-designated route would bear the consequences of such actions.

Earlier, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that the tanker had turned off its radar tracking system while navigating through the Strait of Hormuz.
