Meteorology forecasts rainfall across several Yemeni provinces

SANAA, July 24 (YPA) – Yemen’s National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast rainfall of varying intensity across parts of several governorates within the next 24 hours.

According to the center’s weather bulletin, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by hail and powerful downdrafts are expected in parts of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Dhamar, Raymah, Sanaa, Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, Saada, and the Tihama Plain and coastal areas.

Scattered showers are also expected over the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, and Al-Bayda, as well as parts of the highlands and desert areas of Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Marib, and Al-Jawf provinces.

The center warned citizens against the sudden flow of flash floods in streambeds and valleys, advising against being present in or attempting to cross their channels during and after rainfall.

It also cautioned about the dangers of thunderstorms, hail, and strong downdrafts, urging people to avoid high-altitude areas and to stay away from electrical towers and tall trees.

The center further recommended making the best use of rainfall for irrigating crops, harvesting it for household use, and recharging wells and groundwater reserves.
