Yemen experiences scattered rainfall amid flash flood, thunderstorm warnings

SANAA, July 22 (YPA) – The capital, Sanaa, has been experiencing varying intensities of rainfall since Wednesday afternoon, alongside active weather alerts for flash floods and thunderstorms.

The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning previously forecasted thunderous rainfall of varying intensities across the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Dhalea, Dhamar, Raymah, Sanaa, Mahweet, Hajjah, Amran, and Saada, as well as parts of the Tihama plain.

In its weather warning bulletin, the Center indicated scattered rain, occasionally accompanied by thunder, over the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, and Al-Bayda, as well as parts of the highlands and deserts of Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Marib, and Jawf.

The Center warned citizens against sudden flash floods in ravines and valleys, advising against crossing or remaining in flood channels. It also highlighted risks from thunderstorms and hail, advising the public to stay away from high towers and trees.

Additionally, the Center warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to heavy rain, low clouds, and fog, as well as severe downdraft winds, advising residents to secure solar panels properly.
