ADEN, July 21 (YPA) – Violent armed clashes erupted on Tuesday in the Al-Mansoura district of the Saudi-controlled city of Aden, southern Yemen, amid unprecedented security turmoil in the city.
Informed local sources reported that the clashes broke out after an armed group opened direct fire on a military vehicle tasked with securing site preparation works on a disputed land lot in the Al-Sanafer neighborhood. The land had previously been allocated by the Economic Corporation to the “Aden and Gulf Foundation for Humanitarian Services and Works.”
Sources added that the gunmen targeted the military vehicle with a hail of bullets—disabling the tires of a heavy bulldozer operating at the site—prompting the land’s security guards to respond to the attack.
According to the sources, the guards managed to seize a vehicle belonging to the gunmen along with some of their equipment, while the attackers fled to an unknown destination. The organizational affiliations of the armed individuals on both sides were not disclosed.
