Tribal groups withdraw from Jawf’s Al-Rayyan camp amid rising tensions

JAWF, July 19 (YPA) – Tribes and shiekhs of Al-Subaiha of Lahj province, accompanied by members from Radfan and Abyan, withdrew over the past several hours from Al-Rayyan camp, which is affiliated with the Islah Party, in eastern Jawf Province.

According to informed sources, the tribal groups left the camp and returned to their home areas amid growing anger and resentment among members of the withdrawing tribes.

The sources said the withdrawal followed the killing of several Saudi-backed Dera al-Watan recruits from Al-Subaiha in the Rumah area of Hadramout on Friday evening.

The recruits were reportedly shot by armed members of the Dahm tribe. The withdrawing tribes described the attack on their members as a “treacherous assault.”

Meanwhile, local sources circulated reports of armed clashes between members of the Al-Subaiha and Dahm tribes along the Al-Abr road, a critical international highway connecting Yemen and Saudi Arabia through the Al-Wadiah border crossing, on Saturday evening, resulting in casualties. However, these reports have not been officially confirmed.

Tensions between the two tribes remain high, with Al-Subaiha demanding that those accused of killing their recruits in Rumah be handed over. The tribe has also threatened to launch a campaign of kidnappings targeting members of the Dahm tribe until the suspects are surrendered.

Last Friday, groups from the Bakazem tribe in Abyan also reportedly withdrew from the camp, citing the hidden agenda pursued by the Islah Party, a Yemeni political organization, following its takeover of the facility.
