WHASHINGTON, July 18 (YPA) – United States embassies across the Middle East have issued coordinated security alerts urging American citizens to avoid travel to the Gulf and wider region, citing a complex security environment and the potential for unexpected escalation.

The state department upgraded its advisories to “Do Not Travel” for Lebanon and Iraq, while urging citizens to “Reconsider Travel” to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The comprehensive State Department advisory encompasses 15 destinations across the region: Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Oman, Iran, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Syria, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Yemen.
