Seven Saudi-backed soldiers killed in armed attack in Hadramout desert

HADRAMOUT, July 18 (YPA) – Seven soldiers were killed and 15 others wounded in an armed attack on the Fourth Brigade of the Saudi-backed ” Dera Al-Watan” Forces in the Rumah district of Yemen’s eastern province of Hadramout.

Rumah, the largest district in Hadramout by area, is characterized by its vast desert terrain stretching toward the Empty Quarter, where the sparse population and rugged landscape have made it a favorable environment for armed militants to operate.

The area is believed to have been chosen for such attacks due to its sparse population and rugged desert landscape, making it a favorable environment for militants from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to launch operations and facilitate their movements.
