US eases arms export restrictions to UAE

WASHINGTON, July 15 (YPA) – The US Department of Commerce has eased export restrictions on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by upgrading its classification under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), according to a report by CNN.

The decision comes in recognition of the UAE’s role as a major defense partner and its support for US national security.

The policy shift allows approved Emirati entities to acquire advanced technologies without prior licensing. The authorized exports include, advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips and servers, military and dual-use technologies, commercial satellites, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and technologies utilized in the oil and gas sectors, as well as the civilian nuclear energy industry.

The Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security stated that this measure aims to support the ongoing military partnership and acknowledges the UAE’s commitment to preventing the diversion or misuse of sensitive US technology.
