Son of Salafist cleric, bodyguard killed in armed ambush on Al-Abr road in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, July 14 (YPA) – The son of Salafist cleric Hussein Al-Salahi Al-Yafie and one of his bodyguards were killed on Tuesday in an armed ambush targeting the cleric’s convoy on the Al-Abr road in Hadramout governorate.

The attack occurred shortly after Al-Yafie delivered a speech sharply criticizing Islah Party authorities at the “Al-Rayyan” gathering in eastern Al-Jawf province.

An informed local source reported that unidentified gunmen, suspected of being affiliated with the Islah Party, set up the ambush in the Al-Khashaa area near a military checkpoint on the Al-Abr road. The attack resulted in the death of his 14-year-old son, Yasser, and his bodyguard, Ali Salim Al-Dhalei.

The targeting followed a speech delivered by Al-Yafie at the “Al-Rayyan” tribal gathering, in which he criticized the Islah Party’s policies before pro-Saudi tribal elders and members. Meanwhile, social media activists directly accused the party of being behind the assassination attempt in retaliation for the sharp verbal attack.
