Iran, Oman FM discuss bilateral ties, Strait of Hormuz security

MUSCAT, July 12 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi in Muscat on Saturday to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and the latest regional developments, with a particular focus on security in the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring safe maritime navigation.

Araghchi, who arrived in Oman leading a political and legal delegation, expressed appreciation for Muscat’s positions and stressed Tehran’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across various fields.

For his part, Al Busaidi underscored the importance of diplomatic solutions to reduce regional tensions, expressing hope that the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States would help enhance regional security and stability.

The two ministers also reviewed regional developments and exchanged views on ensuring the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with Article Five of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
