WASHAINGTON, July 06 (YPA) – The U.S. Fifth Fleet announced on the social media platform X that it has ended its active search for a sailor who had been missing since Wednesday following a helicopter crash in the Arabian Sea.
The fleet said the sailor was reported missing on July 1 after an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter crashed into the Arabian Sea.
It added that the search concluded after an extensive operation conducted by U.S. naval and air forces within the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility.
According to the statement, search and rescue efforts lasted more than 102 hours, covering an area of over 14,000 square miles (approximately 36,000 square kilometers) and involving multiple military units.
The missing sailor was assigned to a helicopter combat squadron deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush.
